Post-operative instructions after endodontic surgery

• Rest and avoid intese activities during the rest of the day where the operation took place.
• Do not lie down in a totally horizontal position, put two cushions below your head instead.
• Put a bag with ice or a cold compress over the operated area (over the cheek) every 15 minutes. Do maintain these intermittent applications during 4-5 hours on the operation's day. It is made to reduce the post-operative swelling.
• Take the prescribed analgesic and the anti-inflammatory medicine to alleviate discomfort. Do not take aspirin nor coumpounds that contain acetyl-salicic acid.
• Avoid to chew at the stitched area until the stitches are removed. Avoid also to have warm drinks during the first 6 hours after endodontic surgery.
• Avoid gargling during the first 12 hours after surgery. After this period, apply the prescribed gargling medicine three times a day, during 1 minute each time.
• A light bleeding is normal. If the bleeding is abundant apply a continuous pression over the bleeding area during 30 minutes.
• Follow the post-operative medication instructions prescribed by our department
