Dentin

The dentin is a hard tissue which has some elasticity. Its colour is yellow-white and it contains no blood vessels.

It is located immediately below the enamel in close contact to the dental pulp.

The dentin contains a huge amount of dentinal tubels which contain nerve-fibres that are capable of transfering a pain sensation if they are stimulated by cold, heat or touch. Thus dentin is a sensitive tissue.
