Pulpitis and root canal

The pulpitis is an inflammation of the dental pulp. It can be produced by caries, being:

• A reversible pulpitis: The caries elimination from the tissue and a correct restorative tooth treatment will invert the process, making the pulpitis disappear.
• An irreversible pulpitis: Deep caries in dentin in certain cases may harm the pulp in an irreversible way as bacterias enter the interior of the tooth. In this case endodontic treatment is needed (root canal treatment procedure).
