Pulp vitality tests measure the health of the dental pulp.

They are essential:

• To perform the differential diagnosis of possible pulp and periodontal problems
• To identify the tooth that has an irreversible pulpal problem,
• As regards teeth with dental traumatology, to assess the condition of pulpal microcirculation after the injury.

At present, the most trustworthy clinical evaluation method of pulpal vitality is the dry ice - carbon dioxide.
