Dental reimplant

A dental avulsion refers to the projection of a tooth out of its alveolus. This traumatism might be treated by means of a dental reimplant.

Basically, the prognosis of the tooth’s replacement depends on the appearance of a reaction of our organism called external radicular tooth resorption, that points to the resulting natural rejection of the tooth when it is replaced into its alveolus.

The factors that determine the appearance of a external radicular tooth resorption are the following:

• The time the tooth is located outside its alveolus. It is crucial to act before 30 minutes have passed
• The means of transport of the tooth before its reimplant. It must be washed under a water stream, without rubbing it. Never carry it inside water or saliva as it will destroy the cells of the root’s ligament. The best way to carry the tooth is inside milk, preferably skimmed
• The type and time of the tooth’s splinting inside the alveolus
• The condition of the anatomic development of the tooth apex
• The endodontic treatment that has been carried out before
