Root canal surgery or endodontic surgeryWhen, due to different reasons, we cannot gain access to the apical end of the radicular canal, we will consider the endodontic surgery option. Also called root canal surgery. The surgical process begins separating the gum to create a direct access to the harmed bone. Through a bone curretage and a osteotomy we will eliminate the bone infection and gain access to the tooth root. At the apical end of the root we will make a preparation that will be filled after to avoid bacterias entering from the interior of the radicular canal into the bone. This technical procedure is known as retrograde obturation. Finally the intervention finishes with the gum's suture. Once the endodontic surgery has finished we have to wait some weeks until the wound has healed, restablishing the bone's normal function. |
